The Unicorn Scooter's mission is to combat urban pollution and traffic congestion, offering a sustainable and efficient solution for city dwellers. The design is not just robust and durable, but also boasts a unique step feature that sets it apart from other e-scooters. This step can serve as a platform for a grocery bag, a parcel, or even a child, opening up new possibilities for its use, such as by parcel or food delivery companies.
The scooter is equipped with a swappable battery that offers a range of 80 km, making maintenance easier and more efficient for service providers. The design also includes electromagnetic charging stops, offering two options: a free fleet mode where scooters can be left anywhere after a trip, and a mode with charging docks for the scooters.
The Unicorn Scooter is designed for seamless interaction with its users. The Unicorn App allows commuters to lock and unlock the scooter, reserve a scooter, track their riding data, see the battery range, and even communicate with other commuters. This integration of technology enhances the user experience, making commuting more convenient and enjoyable.
The project, which started in July 2018 in Vilnius, Lithuania, was based on research that found most electric kick scooters used in the scooter sharing market were designed for personal use and lacked certain safety and convenience features. The Unicorn Scooter was designed specifically for sharing, with every feature serving a purpose.
Despite the challenges faced in manufacturing a sustainable micromobility vehicle, the Unicorn team chose to partner with European manufacturers, prioritizing sustainability over cost. The result is a scooter that not only addresses the issues of urban commuting but also contributes to the larger goal of environmental sustainability.
In conclusion, the Unicorn Scooter by Ignas Survila is a testament to innovative design and technology, offering a sustainable and efficient solution to urban mobility. With its unique features and user-friendly design, it is set to redefine the way city dwellers commute.
